Florence May Dodd died on 5th November 2006 - she passed on suddenly and completely unexpectedly and
left her family devastated.

Born in Norfolk street North Shields - moving eventually to the Quadrant. Mam worked for most of
her life within the Printing Industry (Moores in North Shields, Thorntons in Wallsend and Printers
Coast Whitley Bay). She loved work and made some really good and lifelong friends there.

My mother was an amazing woman. Nothing got her down - loving, caring with incredible levels of
grit and determination. A tough lady but very, very loving and protective of her family - in other
words a "proper mum". Hugely funny and mischevious - I am fortunate enough to have so
many memories of us sharing laughter together.

Things my mother loved: her 2 adored grand daughters - Diana May and Samantha Jane...... anything
that sparkled.....flowers, children, her friends/socialising, Sad music, going down memory lane
(again and again), North Shields Fish Quay, hot melted stilton - on anything! Carnation milk - on
anything! Country File, Songs of Praise, The Daily Mail crossword ......hot bubble baths, the
occasional glass of sweet sherry.......

Things she was good at - making you laugh, Yorkshire puddings, Home made Rice Pud......! a damn good
natter.....! putting the world (and anyone else....) to rights....and just being a fab mum and
grandma.....

I put 3 pieces of music on the site - all of which my mother would have loved. She had all kinds of
tastes in music and liked nothing better than to sit and "dance" with Diana to the latest
music - the 2nd song is in recognition of my mothers youthful and fun loving spirit - which she
never lost. Whenever I listen to this, I can see her clapping away to this!

A huge thank you to anyone who takes the trouble to leave a tribute, light a candle or just read
about my mum and look at her pictures. THANK YOU..... I often visit the site - to see my
mum......and its lovely to know that other people have taken the trouble to leave messages......

Special Grandma

May, you would be so proud of Sammy the little boy we are fostering is now staying with us for the next year so his future is secured. She has been so mature and such a help with all the children we have cared for.We realise the last few months have been so hard for her.She loves you and misses you so much, she is off to France with her school next week on holiday, how she would have loved to have told you all about it. I am sure you will watch over her for me.

For Janice

SAFELY IN THE MORNING,
YOU HEARD A GENTLE CALL,
YOU TOOK THE HAND GOD OFFERED YOU,
AND QUIETLY LEFT US ALL

THE DAY YOU LEFT US MOTHER,
OUR HEARTS JUST BROKE IN TWO,
THE SMALLEST PART IS STILL WITH US,
AND THE BIGGEST PART WITH YOU

FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES
WE WILL MISS YOU MOTHER,
OUR SECRET TEARS STILL FLOW,
OH, HOW MUCH WE REALLY LOVED YOU,
NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW

WE MISS YOUR SMILE, YOUR JOKING WAYS,
WE MISS THE THINGS YOU USED TO SAY,
AND WHEN OLD TIMES WE DO RECALL,IT'S THEN WE MISS YOU MOST OF ALL.

YOU WERE ALWAYS THERE WHEN WE NEEDED YOU,
NO TASK TO GREAT OR SMALL,
WITH LOVING HEART AND WILLING HANDS,
FOR US YOU DID IT ALL.

LOOK AROUND YOUR GARDEN LORD,
AND WHEN SHE TURNS AND SMILES,
PUT YOUR ARMS AROUND HER,
AND HOLD HER FOR A WHILE.

Sorry - only just read it!
I had tears in my eyes.

hi mam - a job for you

hi mam - thought I'd drop in and ask you to look out for two lovely young lads that were tragically killed last saturday. Diana has been heartbroken as she knew them both. They were in her year at school - only 15 and 16. Its so terrible - I can't imagine how their poor parents are coping. I know you will watch out for them and make sure they are both OK - it is Conor and Ross. They are such great young lads and will need a bit of looking after in heaven at first. I know you will be up to the job......lots of love Janice....xxxxxxx

For Janice and all your family

You are my distant angel,
Watching over me with care.
I can not help to think,
What would happen if you were still here.
Love lives on in whispered prayers,
Of a happier life for you.
You are my distant angel,
And I will always love you.
